The Running Realtor: Climb up East Rock

A blend of ramblings about Real Estate & Running around New Haven County and the Connecticut Shoreline

Climb up East Rock

The other day I was in New Haven to watch the Guilford vs Madison Girls Hockey playoff and after the game I had a little free time.   It must be 20 years since I ventured to the Top of East Rock so with my camera in hand I set out on my adventure.East Rock - View from Willow Street

Guess my memory has faded, thought I'd just drive up to the top and take a few pictures.  Unfortunately there was a gate so I had to set off on foot.

Almost to the Top of East Rock

My intension was to get some nice city skyline photos but it was late afternoon and my view looking west was into the sun. I did get a few decent shots.  Here is a close up view of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and a distant view of Sleeping Giant

Sleeping Giant also offers some decent views.  Once the weather turns a bit warmer I will try a run up to the tower, round trip is about 5k.

Dan, my kids have hicked to the top of Sleeping Giant a few times, but I never have.  They would agree with you that there are some great views form there when it is clear.

I had not heard of East Rock though before this Post.
