Welcome to this weeks edition of Tee'd Off Tuesday!
Suzanne Sands, founder of the Active Rain Fit Club should be proud of me because I have managed to suppress my appetite for donuts for several months. Recently I have begun training for my first Marathon and as I increased the miles I run each week my need for more calories has increased accordingly.
After a long week and a 10 mile run I decided to relax and take a hot bath.... While soaking in the tub my mind drifted to food and I got the craving for some good old donuts. So at 9:30 instead of slipping into bed after my bath I got dressed and ventured out into the cold night for a box of Dunkin Munchkins.
These days there seems to be an over abundance of crappy food on every corner. We also needed a few items at the food store so my plan was set. I drove to Stop & Shop and since they have partnered up with Dunkin' Donuts I figured I would get both task finished at once. When I arrive the Dunkin' selves were empty, they were cleaning the racks.
Since the recent trend in business it to saturate the market we have a few other Dunkin' Donut shops in close proximity to Stop & Shop. After picking up the few items I needed at the supermarket I drove a few blocks to get my snack. Figured I use would the convenience of the drive-thru and ordered my box of 50 munchkins. The voice from the squawk box informed me they only had a few plain ones and could not fill the order.
A little annoyed I said forget it and drove off.... Being a stubborn SOB or just a glutton for punishment I decided not to get bummed out. There is a third Dunkin Donuts about a mile down the same road and I was hungry. When I pulled up to their Drive-Thru the attendant informed me they had no muchkins. Normally I call that stike three and will banish the business from my list of goods or services that I will patronize.
Determined to complete my mission I set aside my 3-strike rule and pulled into a parking space so I could go into the store and select a dozen donuts. By now it was around 10:00pm and the doors of the 24-hour Dunkin' Donuts were LOCKED....
Needless to say I went home empty. Four attempts to do business with a company that has saturated the market to the point that they are incompetent. They must be spending all their money on advertising and building maintenance because from my view they are under staffed and cannot provide the quality or variety of product that built the company....
Dan the Running Man has Banished Dunkin Donuts! They certainly will not notice the loss of my business but my body will reap the benefit by the elimination of that crap!

Dennis.... Back in my donut eating days Krispy Kremes were preferred..... They are not in my area but BJ's Wholesale Club sold a two selections by the dozen and I grabbed a box every week. When Krispy Kreme fell onto head times the stopped selling them at BJ's so it's been a few years since I've had the taste treat.
Karen... Suppose I could have given it a Real Estate twist for localism since the company has a presence in most every locality. :-)
Dan - we lost our Dunkin Donut in Fort Worth. Not worth it to drive to Dallas!
Linda
Linda...Suprised ya'll have to travel that far! Around here we're tripping over the damn donuts everywhere, they have invaded supermarkets, gas stations and convenience stores. As I drive by I often wonder if they've added some addictive ingredients as the stampede of cars extends from the drive-thu out into the street. I've never been a fan of the sewer water they pass off as coffee so I don't understand why people are lined up.
Marc.... Suppose I should be thankful they couldn't deliver in my moment of weakness... Their lack of customer service saved be from devouring a thousand or so calories...
Judy... Usually grab a banana to munch on while getting ready for my nightly snack platter. My bad habit of before bed snacking goes way back and I'm trying to tone it down.... If I don't eat I'll wake up at 3:00 starving but I'm down to about 500 calories before bed now except for the occasional binge....
Teri... I wouldn't just eat "a" donut at 10.... Usually have three!
Julie... The craving did pass and I polished off a dozen or so cookies.... suppose they are equally as bad.
Sandra... We'll have to stick with those Rich Frosted Donuts.... No Dunkin'
Shannon.... It's my conservative nature.... Figured paying $4.50 for a box of 25 is wasteful when I can get twice as many for $1.50 more....
George... Guess I'm a dinosaur when it comes to eating habits.... I still need a fairly large snack before bed.
Dan- I bet it was some bad mojo from Suzanne ... you were not meant to eat those donuts! :)
Well, at least now I've figured out who your "tag" was. It's funny to me we're reading the same blogs and neither of us knew it. LOL!
Jackie
I should have said 'intended' tag was...bummer.
Jackie
All that chain peddles is junk. The muffins have like 8,000 calories.
I was in a book store and the hippie clerk behind the counter said that our streams and rivers are testing with high levels of caffeine. We drink. We pee. The runoff winds back into the water supply. It was a rather odd chat. She finished her lament with "...and that's why I won't go to Dunkin Donuts!"
Guess we're all retaining Starbucks coffee in extra bladders -- like cows.
Andrew.... I'm finally starting to get it while my eating habit mature.... A bit slow and still tend to eat like a kid....
Cindy... Know what you mean... There are times when I'd pick up a box of 25 just for a snack on a long car ride. Surprised so many people don't have easy access to all this junk, Dunkin Donuts has been especially aggressive in their expansion and literally have sub-stations in supermarkets and even mini-franchises in gas station convenience stores.
Dan,
I'm so glad you didn't get those munchkins.....you work too hard to feed it that crap! :)
Dan,
3 strike rule, you have to under stand it was 10pm at night, doughnuts come in at 4am,8am..so by 10 pm,all the good ones are taking, and the munchkins ,we cant keep them in the store. by 7pm we are out of them, little kids love them, but not to mant parents are feeding there kids them after 8pm, you could have just got you dozen through the drive thru-the order taker would have told you every doughnut that we have at that time at night,if we held every one and kept munch. all night we would loss alot of money,so before you give up on the best thing to happen to america sense sliced bread,as they say,go try the new turkey, bacon ranch flat bread with a nice ice coffee on me!! thats right,on me!
let me know how that grab's your for sorry for the gas you wasted!
yummy turkey,bacon,chesse
Dunkin Donut Manager... I'm aware of the old "Time to make the Donuts" campaign and think the franchise does an excellent job marketing the brand. You mention donuts "come in" at 4am, 8am etc.... which is part of the problem. Back in the day when donuts were made fresh and locally the company built a fine reputation but now that donuts are trucked in from the factory and sold by "order takers" the company has failed on the ability to provide the product. Times have changed.... Society lives much more of a 24 hour lifestyle and healthy eating is becoming more dominate. Donkin Donuts can hire bean counters to trim the fat and minimize loss so in the long run they'll please most of the people some of the time. Me.... I'm happy to say I have resisted the temptation and not eaten any Dunkin Donuts since this post.
Thanks for the offer for a sandwich and iced coffee but I'll pass....
