The last few weeks have been a little hectic for me so I haven't had much time to poke around Active Rain. In addition to my normal real estate routine I have joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team to raise money for blood cancer research while training for my first Marathon.

Being a blogging enthusiast my first thought was to post about my affiliation with the Team in Training since it was the easiest way to provide a site that I could point people towards as I began my fund raising campaign.
During the week I sent a few emails to friends and family as I crafted my thoughts and outlined a plan to raise $5000 in the next few months. Sunday morning it was time to put phase one into action so I stopped into my office to do a little printing and envelope stuffing.
Well... When I got into the office my mailbox had a generous check from Andrew Lenza.
We often hear negative aspects of the internet but from my experience it has always been positive. Andrew's contribution confirms the great community that exists here on Active Rain where like mined professionals share business ideas and personal thoughts.
If you are considering a move to New Jersey and looking in Monmouth County be sure to contact the Colts Neck broker Andrew Lenza.

Dan, good to see you back Running Man :)
By the way Dan I never got that e-mail from you with the address to mail the contribution.
George... Didn't realize you were waiting on me... My profile has my office address and I just emailed you my home.
Linda... We do miss many people.... I ran into him a few months ago during the short lived Links in the Rain Chain here is his blog
Dan.... sounds like a worthy campaign. And even for you to take time out of your busy schedule. Is there a deadline for this? I know you said for the next few months. I could contribute, but not until the end of next month. I took on a lot of projects and expenses in the last few months. I'll be talking to you soon. Thanks for sharing this and for Andrew's contribution.
Dan: Nice of you to recognize Andrew in this forum... I miss the Links in the Rain Chain ... short-lived but it was fun while it lasted. Good luck to you in your efforts for this worthy cause. I know you'll be successful.
what a great tribute - you are on my list - just finished paying REALTOR® dues of $862 - that hurt
Jeff.. Thanks for noticing the time involved for participants to raise money, it has consumed most of my free time during the last two weeks. The deadline for raising money extends right up to my event which is June 1 but I hope to have a good indicator in my ability to raise the funds well in advance. There is a "re-commitment" date where I have to guarantee payment of any shortage personally and after spending about $250 initially for my sign up fee & postage and planning another $250 for my second and third phase of my letter writing requests for donations I'm hoping to raise the majority of the money by April.... They said the re-commitment date was around the half way point but I don't have the exact date yet.
Jan... Suppose I should have asked Andrew first so he doesn't get hounded.... And speak of the devil her comment is right below you....
Cupcake.., It that still a good name? BTW... Since your a cyclist you might be interested in the Team in Training 100 mile ride around Lake Tahoe someday...
Thesa... I know that feeling.... My two envelopes for board dues is sitting on my desk unopened but knowingly totaling over $1000 that I'll need to pay today. Add to that Continuing Ed and we all get hit hard at the start of the year. Thanks for keeping me in mind and don't stretch yourself thin....
Yes, I'm still as sweet as ever! And I would be interested in that ride!
Hi Jason :)
Dan, Well I do appreciate the cyber thank you note. This is a wonderful community and you're running 26.2 muscle-breaking miles for a super cause (oh and the check wasn't that big)! My crooked head in that gold star! Hoot...
Jennifer, I have your address. I'll put you on my newsletter distribution list, but with three kids aiming for higher education I can only do so much. I heard there's a wonderfully generous 'think tank' in Allentown, PA ...
Kim... Most people offer up plenty of ideas but Andrew was the first to step up with financial support which was much more generous than I anticipated... Figured if I could get a decent batch of $10-$20 donations from members it would help reach the goal.
Sardi... Lenza did step up big. One of these days we'll all have to get together for a few beers...
Jennifer... It did sound good and they said you could train to do it in 5 hours but recommended taking your time and enjoying the photo opp's...
Lenza... I didn't even think of the ol' bent head... Could have added a little counter-balancing tilt! The check size is a matter of perspective and it was certainly more than I expected. Muscle-breaking miles makes it sound hard and now that I'm committed I've been hearing more of the stories of hitting the wall around 20 miles and hobbling to the finish... Guess it will give my mind of matter theory a workout!
Commendable Cause Dan - good luck in your training for the event.
Sincerely,
Grace
