I'm Trying.... I'm Trying.... This year I just can't seem to kick myself into the mall. Ten days til Christmas so this morning I slipped into my Holiday Undies and grabbed my stack of Christmas Cash with a mission.... Shop Til I Drop!
Well.... I'm still here.... The thought of aimlessly wandering around on a Saturday just doesn't seem to get me in the Holiday Spirit. I am defeated before I begin.
Being in the Real Estate business we must learn to self-motivate ourselves. Consumers hear the gloom and doom that the media sends everyday and we as agents feel the results in our wallet. Our job goes well beyond selling homes, we need to educate people on the market. Yesterday I was talking to a guy that will be listing in the spring. It felt good to know he was able to sift through all the negative press and understands it isn't that bad.
Yes, volume is off... After a few years of record breaking movement it was bound to happen. So many people have relocated within the last 5 years that it was time to slow down. Looking around you can always pick out drastically overpriced homes that get reduced by 100's of thousands of dollars. When taking a broader look at market conditions we have not seen dramatic price drops in my territory.
Sure as the market slowed new financing products were introduced to bring in buyers that were otherwise not qualified to purchase. These sub-prime purchasers with long track records or financial failure bought at the top typically financing every penny including their closing costs. Yes, they let their bills slide in the past and they continue to let them slide today. Was the increase in foreclosures really a surprise?
Well.. A little typing and my shopping motivation is re-ignited. Off to the Mall with my cell in hand. If you are in the market for a new home now is a great time to begin your search. During the coming winter months less buyers are looking at homes and you may find a better deal instead of waiting for the prime spring market to arrive. Well, you've inspired me to finally begin my Christmas shopping. I have NO desire this year to fight the crowds and buy for the sake of buying. But, knowing I won't be suffering alone makes me feel much better :-)

Dan--It's crazy out there...we were at the stores while a kid was in music lessons and the stores were packed!!
Love how you entertwined not waiting in the real estate market to your not waiting to shop for Christmas. There are bargains in the stores if you know how and where to look...just like bargains in the real estate market if you have a professional Realtor to assist you. Hmmm...maybe you need a professional shopper to help you spend your money?!!

Teri... This time of year the malls are crowded and selection is limited... Just like the house hunting in the middle of spring. And Yes those are goofy ears.... As I told you we already have way too much junk.... Did I mention I'm not a fan of the over-commercialization of Christmas?
Marc.... I made it to the mall... Was ready to call it a freakin' day after searching for a parking space and a guy pulled out of the last spot before I got to the road.... Wandered, spent a few bucks and came home to go running... Off with the undies until another day!
Judy... If I had the luxury of a list shopping would me nothing more than a quick mission, I'm very efficient. Typically I wander about to spur ideas but after 30 years it's getting tougher..... I came up with plenty of stuff, just not for my wife...
Teri... Lesson number one is never flash the cash.... I have no problem paying for quality but don't like being directed based on the bucks... I did see a bit on the news about a secret Santa wandering strip malls passing out hundred dollar bills.

It was really beautiful until it started to rain, now its just a slushy mess....we could splash in the puddles! :)

Mana... That's a tall order but the challenge of making miracles happen is always fun!
Ginger... Thanks for noticing!!! Never was very good at posing for a camera and since it was set-up on a tripod I had to press the button and jump into place before the flash..... As far as spending I've wandered around two major indoor malls and several stand-alone stores but not finding much of interest.
