Sorry to disappoint but this is not as provocative as some of the posts I have written. Today I decided to explore FACEBOOK in search of a better understanding of its use.
Several months ago my morning mailbox was filled with a ray of sunshine from the south inviting me to join another social site. Since Colleen has never lead me astray I joined that day.
Now I see notifications that someone waved, hugged or poked me but still do not have any real knowledge of the application other then it is useful to keep friends in mind. I read the writing on my wall but haven't sprinkled any graffiti around myself but I getting ready to unload the next time an artistic idea strikes.
The preliminary conclusion is that facebook is a cute application for passing notes and nudging friends. It has plenty of activites to spend hours goofing off but not very useful for business. Did I miss anything?
Anyone looking for real estate along the Connecticut Shoreline can feel free to drag me away from Facebook. Whether you are Buying or Selling a home in my territory give me a call or drop me an email. Dan Cummings, The Running Realtor is always ready to work.

yup - got me. I was wondering what this was doing on the newbie forum. I see you have gotten at least 14 folk who have fallen for it.
Thanks for letting us know about Facebook.
Facebook also has a feature "livepad" where you can post your listings. I'm not sure of the value of this but I did post one yesterday and plan to post my entire inventory there.
Cheers,
David Swierczynski
I have not checked out Facebook, I was under the assumption it was strictly social network. I can't seem to find time to check other places out.
Matthew... Figured that title would be catchy enough to bring in some curiosity seekers.
Bill... Never hurts to check out other sites. May stumble into the next big winner.
David... I haven't seen the listing area yet. Seems very diverse but I will look around another time.
Teri... You must have been frightened stopping in.... Never know what you'll see.... LOL
Janie... I haven't seen you on facebook so I'll assume that egg is coming farm fresh via UPS...
Judy... It takes time to develop a following and normally consumer posts get very few comments. Most of my socialization posts are "members only" but eventually you'll develop a following of friends that will stop by and say hello.
Ken... The value of cyberspace is amazing... Still recall when AOL hit the jackpot and bought up long standing companies before they tanked.
Sandi... I know you're on top of this stuff. Plenty of destinations to drain us of time.
Christine... That has been my thought for several months but Sandi got me thinking on a different subject last night that was a natural tie in to facebook.
Chad... There are quite a few ActiveRainer's there. Early on I associated with some but I'm sure there are many I missed.
Sarah... Thought MySpace was a young-uns' hang out. Maybe I'll go sniff around.....
Sandra... You know I get confused reading between the lines.... Is tossing a rabbit some how a hint of her somewhat questionable past?
Mana... With all those drinks and hugs I have a pretty good idea where it could lead for a poking... ( joking ) I know you're taken!
George... LOL... I thought of that when I was commenting to Sandi B, She once asked if I ever wore clothes.
Sandra... Can't really see clearly through all the smoke and I don't have a MySpace account so I'm not able to see the other pics....
Barbara... Never heard for Realbird but if it's decent blog about it and maybe I'll join. BTW... Welcome aboard... Since you're in Maine I'll be following your posts... Come to think of it that FaceBook photo was taken in Maine a back in July.
Hi Dan,
I have no clue what your talking about....I'm not sure I want to go there, am I missing something?
Sweet Suzanne... You're letting the Bad Boy you've imaged cloud your judgement.... Come play.... Would I ever do you wrong?
Keith & Robin... That is a different story... Play time is a tremendous drain. Keep wondering how long before the rewards are reaped.
are you talking to me.....keep checking! LOL!
Brother Dan - I knew exactly what your post was when I saw that title!! Seems someone dedicated a song to me in the last day or so.....
I've had flowers, drinks, lobster dinners, scared, hugged, poked, tickled, etc. - all done to me there. And still, like you, I don't really get what that is all about, but still trying to figure it all out.
And now, I must go check out Sweet Sarah's torrid past.....
Ann
Dan,
I thought this might be a post of my adventures last night. WHEEEWWW THANK GOD IT'S NOT.
Mike Lewis
Suzanne.... Not all that funny..... Sometimes I wonder about you!
Ginger.... It isn't really all the time consuming unless you haven't mastered self control. Yesterday I discovered a version of Name that Song that was fun and lost a few hours. Amazed how many "unknow" groups sprouted up in the last 30 years.
Sis... Yes, the title was quite easy to decipher. Maybe I will look a little closer at MySpace also but I do have a few other items on my list first.
Mike... Good thing.... If facebook is the extent of your nightly adventures that would indeed be sad.
Oh, Dan -- shame, shame!!!
Sandra, my husband actually used to call me Wild Woman back in the early days. Hmm, not so much anymore. But I promise, that Sarah Cooper is NOT ME.
Dan, here. You'll recognize some people.
Sarah..Thanks for the link... I have to run but I'll check out your Sexy Layout Later... You look so Sweet & Innocent.... Wild Woman.... I'm feeling a Wild Thing Blog Coming.... LOL
Shame on you, Dan. Tsk. (No sexiness there, unless you check out a few of my friends!)
Sandra, apparently, the boy thought I was sweet. I surprised him. ;o)
Ah, the things that go on here on Sundays!! Sarah was sweet, still is sweet, and yet now she's being told to 'repent'......what is this world coming to?? ;-)
Ann
What is there to wonder about.....I'm really not interested in another social networking site, I barely have time for this one. Are you okay with that...?
Ann... Don't worry... Think it would take a bit more to tarnish Sarah...
Sarah... You do fine fending for yourself. I'm not out to get you, must be a complexion think... Tarnish, Tan.. just adding some color!
Sarah... BTW.. Even though you say you don't tan you did looked nicely colored all summer.
Susie... You know how I love those dual purpose meanings... Maybe I'm even cracking the secret of woman, they enjoy the eye candy but deep down they want a NUT.
Sandra... Enough... Leave my WV Girl alone!
Suzanne... I am OK with that... BUT ... I tend to beat it to death because I wonder if you understand my double meaning logic. Recently with the talk of AR selling out I thought about the possibility that this site could "disappear" at any time. I have no control over any of the content here... it could all be gone one morning! Next I think about all the people I have met throughout the country and how any means of contact could be gone. Sure there are a few people I have emailed directly and have in my address book but many are missing. In my opinion Facebook is a secondary system where many of the high profile Rainer's have migrated just in case....
I think that exposure on many social networking sites can only help you move up in the search engines so you are noticed and the chosen one in your area. I recently wrote an AR post on MySpace regarding agent's professionalism, whether online or in person. It seems that there are many REALTORS who are flaunting their personal social lives with less than complimentary photos on one hand, and promoting their business on another. The problem is when these two meet...either keep it personal and professional while promoting your business, or keep it completely personal with no reference to your business.
Dan,
Now that you have gone and made me feel guilty about the whole thing, perhaps I will check in out in the near future...I can't argue with you when you make very good points! :)
Dorothy.. Certainly something to keep in mind. Many members here mix business and personal information but normally there is nothing terrible.
Suzanne... Don't feel guilty... It's not like you ate a donut or something! As you know my subjects are quite diverse and borderline provocative but deep down if you look really hard you'll often find a good point.
Still don't have a MySpace (or any other) page yet. Seems like my friends and sisters that have one are always getting hit on and I'm just not up for that. Real life keeps me busy enough as it is. Besides, I don't want my life too public. I am considering the linked-in you sent. Just gotta check it out.
You've been doing quite a bit of poking this week Dan... aren't you getting tired yet?? ;-)
Dan,
Had one of these, you got to try them...;)
Thesa... Keep poking around....
Jennifer... I'm a bit of a cyber virgin myself, Linked-In looks like another good site and I may write on that soon. Seems more business oriented then facebook but with the opportunity to use a meaningful title like this post I couldn't resist. I still remember my first poke but never seem to tire with so much variety.
Suzanne... You are GOOD and learn fast! Now I am confused - Are you suggesting a cookie or finally inviting me over for a little TLC.... LOL
Dan,
I was sucked into that one, Damn!! at least Sarah looks like she's having fun :0) Facebook is another Myspace, and it's really is no Help in my Opinion.
Funny Post!!
Tom Weiss
Dan, my color is mostly just me blushing. *^_^*
I was going to tell Jennifer that I don't get many weirdos hitting on me in there, and then I just got this message from this guy who works near here and wonders if I'd like to "meet up." So never mind!! Since you get to "choose" your friends, mostly it's whatever you make of it.
Tom... I'll have to disagree that Facebook and MySpace are NO help.... Not all exposure is easy to gauge.
Sarah... I will behave so you can stop blushing.... Not good to attract weirdo's but a little nuts is ok, right?
Glenda... One of these days I'll venture into MySpace... Just not enough hours in the day!
I haven't figured out Facebook either. Just like you said poke and buy drinks. I don't even get any trackback links to my blogs. You can find me on myspace, facebook, linkin, plaxo, twitter, mybloglog, stubler, tumbler, martini glass,
Here and my blog are the only thing that has brought me any outside leads.
I guess just go through sheep at "girlblogger"
