The Running Realtor: Working in Real Estate is like making Dreams Happen.

A blend of ramblings about Real Estate & Running around New Haven County and the Connecticut Shoreline

Working in Real Estate is like making Dreams Happen.

I have always been somewhat of a dreamer but in a realistic way.  Quick Story.... Going back about 30 years when I got married my wife's favorite band was Fleetwood Mac.  Fast forward 13 or 14 years and Fleetwood Mac was coming to town on our anniversary.  I was up early and at the box office the morning tickets went on sale,  Got great seats!

Next, my crazy thought of an elaborate plan to make this an exceptional night... One of those memories that Money Can't Buy. I hopped on the phone to find out who books shows at the venue.  That led me to NYC and to the name of Mick's agent in Hollywood.  Being driven and confident my call wasn't caught up in the screening bureaucracy and made it through to the man.  After a few minutes to hear me out he said something like.... Dan, I appreciate what you're trying to do but that is impossible..... It can't happen.

Well.... If you don't know me I'll fill you in, impossible means challenging in my world, I like to make things happen. Since I'm getting long winded let me just say that when the band came back for their encore on our anniversary my wife and I were asked to stand for a little presentation and the dedication of John Lennon's song... Imagine performed by Fleetwood Mac!  I recall Mick rising up from behind his drums to give me a nod and thumbs up... I did good!  The band did great!

Back to Real Estate....  Working in this business allows me the opportunity to make things happen.  The transition and upheaval of moving can be stressful for people but whatever the situation I rise to the challenge.  Each client is a new adventure and my goal is to create fond memories of the process that leads to your Dream Home.

So if you are planning to buy a house along the Connecticut Shoreline there are are a variety of Homes For Sale. For a custom search just email your criteria to Dan@CummingsTeam.com  or give me a call (203) 672-2455.

What a great surprise for your wife. I love Fleetwood Mac. Reminds me of college. We had the Doubie Brothers at our RE/MAX convention last year. What a hoot ! Brought back lots of memories. Am I getting old or what ??

Dan - That was one heck of a surprise for me - something I will never forget for the rest of my life......Of, course you can always try to top it : )

Sandra how about your new favourite band and this time maybe in Europe?

Dan, That was a nice story. I love a good challenge as well. I need to prove it to myself that I am capable of taking care of things.

Missy... No you're not getting old and music will never reveal your age...  My kids always thought I was a relic but when they reached their teenage years I aways heard plenty of the 70's music filling their ears.

Sandra... As I said "Realistic Dreamer"  some things are tough to top.

George... Don't see any photo problems...   Did my story get you all teary eyed and cause a blur?

Suzanne... Over the years I have spent countless hours on silly challenging ideas.  But it's always fun.

Sandi... Other people's attitude determines how I treat them,  when crossed I can be a bit hard.

Sandi... Other people's attitude determines how I treat them,  when crossed I can be a bit hard.  :-)

Thesa... Nay... Sticks and stones are hurtful,  A lump of coal even transformed to a diamond is still cold.

Mana... Like with most things the challenge of getting there is fun and exciting.

Dan - Now that you have told this story - it seems like some of the ladies will be expecting you to top it next year.......You better start planning.....plus next year is a big anniversary! The pressure is on.
Posted by Sandra Cummings, Real Estate Agent, Guilford Connecticut (William Raveis Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Sandra... I will start planning the big journey... It almost looks like you are there already!

Posted by No Longer Active (Real Estate) about 11 years ago
Dan - If that is what you are planning for our big anniversary - I hope you are planning to spend it by yourself.

This is more along what I had in mind.............How about here
Posted by Sandra Cummings, Real Estate Agent, Guilford Connecticut (William Raveis Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Dan yes I was all chocked up.  Now you have done it again, I have to go get a tissue :)

By the way buddy the picture that is coming up for you on my subscribed list is this one, that is why I asked the question.

Even I can't make these things up :)

Dan, Good going! Fleetwood Mac is one of my Favs...

Now I hear there's a "Rumour" if you "Go You Own Way'  you may risk "Landslide" on that anniversary hike you have in mind.

So make the "Lovin' Fun" and "Imagine" a trip to Paris tfor the "Gold Dust Woman" of your "Dreams" LOL!

You did step up to the challenge- and a great way to tie it in to what you do. Solving problems is something real estate agents face every day- you are obviously good at thinking outside the box.  P.S.  I am on Sandra's side with the Ritz and Paris!
Posted by Ginger Wilcox (Sindeo) about 11 years ago

Sandra.... As I have said in the past.... That is a long swim!

George... Think you have me confused with someone else... Never had hair that long!

Ginger... Nice job.... She'll have to Imagine that trip because the market isn't exactly booming here.

Ginger... As far as the Ritz in Paris... I'll move that to the top of the list after I win the lottery.

Posted by No Longer Active (Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Ginger - I love your comments! Dan - do you hear that 2 votes for the Ritz and Paris........0 for the hike!

George - has Dan been blogging under a false persona and is really Danielle? lol

Dan - Who is that woman?

Posted by Sandra Cummings, Real Estate Agent, Guilford Connecticut (William Raveis Real Estate) about 11 years ago
Dan & Sandra, I don't understand why that picture is there because usually the icon that we have is the same one that appears at the top right hand corner of our blogs, so I don't know why I am getting a different picture, unless Dan is leading a secret life and has been dressing up in drag :)
Posted by George Souto, Your Connecticut Mortgage Expert (George Souto NMLS #65149 FHA, CHFA, VA Mortgages) about 11 years ago

Sandra... Fine!  I'll endure the trip as long as you toss in a couple bonus closings to pay of it!

George... Sounds like you have some serious technical issues.... Try "Unsubscribe" to me then "Subscribe" again to see if it fixes the photo...

Posted by No Longer Active (Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Hey - George - is it time to get the old eyes checked? Just checked out your "buddy's list" and Dan's floating head appears above the picture you posted. That photo belongs to Laura Monroe, Rocklin CA, a virtual Real Estate Assistant.....

Dan - I'm not the one with the reputation to uphold. : )

Posted by Sandra Cummings, Real Estate Agent, Guilford Connecticut (William Raveis Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Dan, I guess I could try that, but the picture that is there now is more pleasant to look at than yours ...... LOL

You make a great looking female ........ LOL

Posted by George Souto, Your Connecticut Mortgage Expert (George Souto NMLS #65149 FHA, CHFA, VA Mortgages) about 11 years ago
Sandra, I just checked it out again and I have two icons of Laura on there, one for her and the other one is Dan's link.  I know my old eyes are not what they use to be, but this time they are not playing tricks on me ..... LOL

Sandra,

If Dan doesn't want to go, I will be happy to volunteer to go with you.  We can go shopping, he can go climb a mountain.

Dan & Sandra - Either place looks good to me! I grew up in the Smoky's, never did that trail, but Paris would be ok....

Dan, I loved this story.  But I came over to say good morning and let you know that I had thought of you yesterday as I heard the news about the runner who died.  How sad.  Your branding's paid off.  I hear running, I think Dan.

Maggie... Blogging on ActiveRain does make the world so much smaller.... My running brand does stick, think it's the best tag line I have ever used.  For you I think the flow of Maggie in Miami is quite memorable even if Palmetto Bay is more focused on your territory.
Posted by No Longer Active (Real Estate) about 11 years ago

Hmmm, maybe I should change my name to Pattie?  Pattie in Palmetto has a nice ring to it.

I just read the comment thread on this.  ha ha ha ha ha  Poor George and his icon troubles.  And you and Sandra assuring him there were no troubles.  I hope he hasn't been scarred.

Maggie... To late for a name change now... Unless you want to try a dual identity....

Susie... Haven't heard of Geraldo in years... Does he make dreams happen on some new show?
